The protection of your personal data is of the utmost importance to us. In the following, we explain our data protection practices when using our electronic media.
F.A.Z. Business Media GmbH processes and uses your personal data exclusively in compliance with the applicable data protection regulations. Regulations in this regard include the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Telemedia Act (TMG). The following data is collected when you use the digital services of F.A.Z. Business Media GmbH (hereinafter also referred to as “F.A.Z. Business Media GmbH”):
- personal data that you voluntarily enter when you register for a newsletter or an event, place an order, take part in a survey, participate in discussion forums, or make use of similar services offered via our website.
- tracking information collected during the use of our websites.
Collection, processing and use of personal data
The personal data you provide will only be stored, processed and used without further consent for the purpose of establishing and processing the contract and for billing purposes. The data will only be passed on to service providers who handle the corresponding tasks (mailings etc.) on behalf of F.A.Z. BUSINESS MEDIA GmbH for the fulfillment of the aforementioned purposes.
The service providers are contractually bound to confidentiality and compliance with all necessary data protection measures. F.A.Z. BUSINESS MEDIA guarantees that your data will be treated confidentially. With your voluntary consent, F.A.Z. BUSINESS MEDIA is authorized to collect, process and store your personal data for the purpose of providing you with information about F.A.Z. BUSINESS MEDIA GmbH products, to combine it with other data, to archive it and to use it. Your consent is given either in writing or by clicking on the relevant declaration. In particular, personal data will only be passed on to third parties if you have given your express prior consent or if we are obliged to disclose the data, for example due to an official order.
The collection, processing and use of personal data takes place primarily in the following cases:
- newsletters:
On some F.A.Z. BUSINESS MEDIA GmbH websites, it is possible to subscribe to newsletters. After registration, the user’s e-mail address and personal data are stored on the F.A.Z. BUSINESS MEDIA GmbH server. The data is used exclusively for sending the subscribed newsletters. The user must agree to other regulations. After registration, the user receives a confirmation message containing a link for final registration (double opt-in). This ensures that the newsletter is explicitly desired. F.A.Z. BUSINESS MEDIA uses the email marketing software Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
Email marketing with consent
On our website or as part of promotions, you have the option of subscribing to a newsletter or consenting to the sending of information about our products and services. The type of personal data we collect in this context is determined by the form used for registration. After registering, you will first receive an e-mail which you must confirm via a link contained therein (double opt-in). This procedure is used to check whether the owner of the e-mail address provided during registration has consented to receiving e-mail marketing communications. The date and time of confirmation are stored by us. The legal basis for the storage of this data is our legal obligation to document your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence lit. c) GDPR, Art. 7 para. 1 GDPR). If you do not confirm your registration, your data will be deleted. Otherwise, the data collected during registration (e-mail address and voluntary information) will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected. This is particularly the case if you withdraw your consent (e.g. by unsubscribing from a newsletter The legal basis for the processing of your data for the purpose of regularly sending you e-mail advertising is your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence lit. a) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. To do so, please send a message to datenschutz@faz-bm.de or use the unsubscribe function provided in the email.
Email advertising without consent
If you have purchased a product or service from us by providing your e-mail address, we process this e-mail address for the purpose of informing you about such products and services that are similar to the products and services you have already purchased or that correspond to your interests – if you have communicated them to us. The legal basis for the processing is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence lit. f) GDPR. Due to the existing customer relationship, the use of your data for further sales is reasonably foreseeable and your fundamental rights and freedoms are not affected by the receipt of e-mail advertising to an extent that outweighs your interest in refraining from processing. You can object to the processing of your data at any time with effect for the future without incurring any costs other than the transmission costs according to the basic rates. - events:
You can register for events via the event websites of F.A.Z. BUSINESS MEDIA GmbH. After registration, the user’s personal data relevant to the event will be stored on the F.A.Z. BUSINESS MEDIA GmbH server. The data is used exclusively for the purpose of organizing the event. The user must agree to other regulations. After registration, the user will receive a confirmation message containing all information relevant to the event.
- personalized services:
If you decide to make use of services that require registration, we will collect, process and use the relevant data from you that we need to provide the services.
- surveys:
We survey experts on specific topics for our journalistic services. We collect data records from the experts for these surveys. Once consent has been given, the experts’ e-mail addresses and personal data are stored on the F.A.Z. BUSINESS MEDIA GmbH server. The data is used exclusively for sending the surveys. The user must agree to other regulations. After giving consent, the user receives a confirmation message containing a link for final inclusion in the data pool (double opt-in). This ensures that participation in the survey is explicitly desired. F.A.Z. BUSINESS MEDIA uses the email marketing software Salesforce Marketing Cloud and the survey software Limesurvey.
- plenigo:
In order to offer you various payment functions through an online payment channel, we use software from plenigo GmbH (Agnesstr. 37, 80798 Munich), which supports us in handling the payment process. The software also manages transactions and controls access control, billing, the checkout process, invoicing and payment transactions. It also supports our user, product and price management. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) GDPR. plenigo GmbH processes your personal master data (such as name, address data), your communication data (e.g. e-mail), order data, contract billing and payment data as well as our planning and control data on the basis of an order processing agreement in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR.
Right to information
Upon request, F.A.Z. BUSINESS MEDIA GmbH will inform you in writing, taking into account the legal requirements, whether and which personal data is stored. Please send inquiries to datenschutz@faz-bm.de.
Change of data and revocation
You can update, correct, supplement or delete your personal data at any time. If this is not technically possible at the address at which you have provided the data, you can contact us at any time at the following address: datenschutz@faz-bm.de. You can also use this address to revoke your consent to the use of your data. In this case, your data will be deleted immediately. If data has been transmitted to third parties with your consent, these third parties will be informed immediately and requested to delete the data. You are entitled to restrict your consent to the use of your data. In this case, deletion will only take place within the scope of the restriction. For technical reasons, it cannot be completely ruled out that there may be an overlap between revocation and use of your data as part of a campaign that has already started. As an alternative to the browser add-on, especially for browsers on mobile devices, you can also prevent Google Analytics from collecting data by clicking on the links below. An opt-out cookie will be set to prevent the future collection of your data when you visit this website. The opt-out cookie is only valid in this browser and only for our website and is stored on your device. If you delete the cookies in this browser, you must set the opt-out cookie again.
Cookies, tracking, similar technologies and GermanLawInternational Pure
When you visit our websites, certain data (information such as cookies, device ID, IP address) is automatically processed. Information is stored and retrieved on your device. The extent to which this happens depends on what you decide: As before, you can visit our website www.germanlawinternational.com and the corresponding articles on www.germanlawinternational.com free of charge. In this case, however, we are still dependent on being financed by advertising. This involves the use of personalized advertising, advertising tracking and usage analysis (see 1. below). Accordingly, in these cases we ask you to give your consent, which you can revoke at any time. In addition, as described in 3. below, terminate the corresponding use of cookies already stored via the cookie settings of your browser by deleting cookies stored for this purpose. The legal basis for this use or corresponding processing is our legitimate interest, namely the provision of content that is as suitable as possible for our readers, author remuneration and/or technical or legal requirements (Art. 6 para. 1 f GDPR).
